BPU

BPU is a broader payment-undertaking concept in current supply-chain-finance terminology and is not limited to the old BPO framework.

Technology change

SWIFT discontinued its TSU service after limited adoption. That historical change should not be described as “BPU replaced BPO by law.”

Private acronyms

Terms such as ICBPO appear in private market documents. MyGreed does not label them an official SWIFT product unless an authoritative standard supports that claim.

Source / standards noteProcedure terminology can be market-specific. MyGreed distinguishes formal rules/message functions from bank policy and negotiated transaction steps.
Remember thisBPO and BPU are related words with different histories; do not treat them as interchangeable acronyms.
