Inspection certificateBe careful who is allowed to issue it
Check wording
Harder wording

"Inspection certificate issued by applicant."

Risk:

The buyer may control the certificate, which can cause difficulty or rejection.

Better wording

"Inspection certificate issued by SGS or equivalent."

Why better:

The certificate comes from an independent party and is usually easier to understand.

Why this field matters

Field 46A describes documents required under the documentary credit.

A beneficiary should ask: Can I actually produce every required document in the required form?

Common examples

Commercial invoice.

Packing list.

Certificate of origin.

Transport document such as a bill of lading.

Insurance document when required.

Other certificates stated in the credit.

More documents can mean more risk

Every additional document or special certificate creates another item that may be checked.

More is not always better.

Impossible conditions

If a document cannot realistically be obtained, the LC may be very hard to draw under.

This is one reason a draft LC should be reviewed before issuance.

Remember thisA beautiful LC is useless if the required documents cannot be produced.
