Not “paperless by default”

A transaction must be structured to use electronic records and the relevant supplement. Banks, platforms and legal systems must support the process.

Electronic original questions

Digital bills of lading and other electronic trade documents raise questions of control, title and legal recognition that differ by jurisdiction.

Check technology and law

Do not assume that emailing a PDF makes a presentation an eUCP-compliant electronic record.

Remember thisElectronic trade finance needs both rule support and operational/legal capability; a PDF email is not automatically an electronic original.
