How to Read a SWIFT Procedure
Use a simple method before trusting a sequence of MT numbers.
Name the message
For every MT number, first ask what official message function it has.

Name the instrument
Then ask what legal/financial instrument the message relates to. Do not assume they are identical.
Name the obligation
Identify whether the sender is merely giving information or actually undertaking to pay.
Ask the banks
The sender’s procedure cannot force another bank to send a message or accept wording. Bank capability, RMA, compliance and credit approval still matter.
