Dates, Shipment and Expiry
Learn which dates can stop a good deal from becoming a good presentation.
Expiry
The credit has an expiry date and place for presentation.
A learner should always find this early.
Latest shipment date
A credit can state the last date on which shipment may take place.
Shipping after that date can create a problem unless the credit is properly amended.
Presentation period
The LC may state how many days after a transport-document date the documents must be presented.
The presentation still has to fit within the overall expiry requirements.
Partial shipment
If partial shipment is allowed, the goods may be shipped in more than one lot, subject to the credit terms.
Transshipment
If transshipment is allowed, the goods may move through more than one transport stage.
This can matter when there is no direct route.
